Dental Exams & Cleanings in Dundee, MI. A dental hygienist talking with a relaxed patient in a bright treatment room.

Dental Exams & Cleanings

A checkup is the cheapest dental work you will ever have. Twice a year, our hygienists clean away the plaque and tartar a toothbrush cannot reach, then one of our dentists examines your teeth, gums and bite for anything starting to go wrong. Small cavities, early gum inflammation and hairline cracks are all far easier to fix while they are still small.

If it has been a while since your last visit, you are in good company and you will not hear about it from us. We will simply tell you what we see, show you the images, and lay out your options in order of what matters most.

What it is like here

  • Hygienists who take their time

Our hygienists have been doing this for years and are known for putting nervous patients at ease. Tell us where you are sensitive and we will work around it.

  • You see what we see

Digital x-rays and our intraoral camera put your teeth on the screen next to you, so a recommendation is something you can look at rather than just take our word for.

  • Only what you need

If a tooth can be watched rather than drilled, we will say so and note it for next time. We would rather keep you as a patient for twenty years than sell you a filling today.

Step by step

How the visit goes

  1. A look at the whole picture

We review your health history, take any images we need, and check your teeth, gums, bite and soft tissues.

  2. Your cleaning

Your hygienist removes plaque and tartar above and below the gum line, then polishes and flosses. Tell us if anything is uncomfortable and we will adjust.

  3. What we found, and what is next

We walk you through the images, answer your questions, and agree on a plan. Nothing gets scheduled that you have not said yes to.

people ask.

If yours is not here, call the office. We are happy to talk it through before you book anything.

How often should I come in?

Every six months suits most people. If you have gum disease, a history of frequent cavities or certain medical conditions, we may suggest more often. We will tell you why rather than just booking it.

It has been years since my last cleaning. Will it hurt?

It may be more sensitive than a routine visit, because there is more to remove and the gums are usually inflamed. We can numb the area, work in sections over more than one visit, or both. Say the word and we stop.

Do you take my insurance?

Most dental plans cover preventive visits well, often at or near 100%. Call the office with your plan details and we will check your benefits before you come in.

Book your checkup.

Call the office or send the form and we will get you in for an exam and cleaning. New patients are welcome, and nobody here will make you feel bad about how long it has been.
